Update on my knee: it's fine! Running barefoot on carpet, and thus softening the impact, worked! I've been able to keep up with my regimen and keep on track with my weight loss. The only problem: now my feet are starting to hurt because of the lack of cushioning provided by a shoe.

Why can't this be easier???? (Just a rhetorical question, lol)

No pain, no gain Soda! (or in this case-loss )

That's a bummer tho! I'm finding the older I get the more pains I get. I walk a lot and one foot starts hurting in the ball of my foot about half way through my walk. When I get home and take off my shoe it's ok. One shoulder also has a pain in it part time. I think I'm slowly falling apart the older I get. Aging sucks.

I sliced off the very tip of my little finger the other day and have been dealing with that for a week. It's healing, but slowly.

It sounds like it's time for those Nike (or some other brand of preference in athletic footwear) cushioned running shoes--athletic trainers that are padded and conform to your feet protect your feet from all that impact.

About the finger--don't panic. If you take really good care of it--within the next two (or at most, three) years you'll have it back to normal. If it is a minor injury, the digit will recover sooner. The nerves can take longer to go back to working the same way as before--but they do grow back in and work again.

Thanks Lisa. I do have good Nike shoes, but I'm going to try to find a pad that you put in them to help with this. (Checked it out on the net)

The finger is much better and I guess I didn't get a nerve because it is doing much better. I got something called new skin and you paint it on the wound like fingernail polish. It has really helped protect it and now I can get by without a band-aid. I have learned my lesson and will be much more careful with a knife or slicer.

I move from one ailment to the next! My feet don't hurt anymore, but one of my toes keeps cracking.

More good news about my weight though: After today's weigh-in, I was thrilled to discover that I've now lost 40 pounds! Ten pounds in just three weeks! I don't know quite how that happened as I haven't done anything differently and I usually only lose about 2 pounds a week, but it's cool with me!

I know this will inevitably slow down, especially since I'm going to shows three weekends in a row and I don't count calories when I'm "having fun." Let's just say I doubt I'll be 10 pounds thinner at the end of October!

So happy for you, Soda!! Really! Well, except for the ailments. You know they say exercising is good for you...go figure. But I'm happy for you on the rest!

Congrats, Nancy! Wow - 40 ibs. is very impressive - you deserve quite a few attagirls for that!

Since we don't have an attagirl emoticon, I guess I'll pick this one ...
