Awww, Happy Birthday to all, but especially to Roger Taylor! He's always been a cutie. I'll always treasure my very brief encounter with him! He looked like a rock star - long black coat, black shades indoors, a beautiful woman on his arm - but he was polite and courteous.

You've spoken to Levon Helm on the phone. That one thing matches up to all of my experiences, IMHO!

I think I told the story a little while ago. It was while I was working at the theatre. I'd met Brian May quite a few times, but this one particular night there was a special show because it was either the 5th year of the show, or the anniversary of Freddie Mercury's death. I can't remember which. Anyway, there were a few famous people there (Ben Elton, Paul Young, Brian May)... I'd hoped Roger Taylor might be there, but there was no sign of him. He didn't come to any 'normal' shows, like Brian did. I was working on the kiosk in the foyer - very glamorous, of course! - and when everyone had gone back inside the auditorium, after the interval, I was counting up the money alone. I happened to glance up to my left and I saw Roger Taylor, as I said earlier, dressed in a long black coat with black sunglasses, walking down the steps towards me, with a woman. I nearly died! He stopped and said "Hello there." Then he asked if he could go straight in to the VIP suite, which was right next to my kiosk. (Who was I to say no? ) Anyway, just as he asked, a security guy came out of the suite and beckoned Roger in. Roger said thank you to me and went on inside. Very brief, but cool. I didn't expect him to be there because he didn't really attend the theatre like Brian did... So it was a big surprise when I saw him walking down those stairs! He definitely gave off more of a rock star vibe than Brian May - but that was probably the way he was dressed, and the fact that I wasn't expecting to see him - but he was polite and seemed like a nice guy. He went on stage with Brian May and Ben Elton towards the end of the show to say thank you to the cast and the audience. I can't remember exactly why, but I remember thinking that he must have had one or two drinks in that VIP suite between the time that I saw him and the time he went on stage! The audience loved it, anyway.

I do remember that story now. I have a friend on Facebook that LOVES Roger, I need to tell her that story! BTW--Brian May is a Facebook friend of mine and HE'S the one that requested me! We have a couple mutual friends on there and I'm sure one of them suggested he add me because of all the musical stuff but pretty cool anyways! I think I even archived the email that said "Brian May has requested you as a friend". I'm so pathetic!

Richard Wright of Pink Floyd would have been 65 today. We lost him to cancer just 2 years ago.

    This is beautiful!!!

    Very cool, Willie!

Thanks for posting that video. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan. I still can't quite believe Rick is gone. He always seemed like such a gentle, kind-hearted man, and of course, he had enormous talent. Here's to Richard Wright.
