Nice photo. I think you've hit the nail on the head. The place was special enough to the band to warrant them naming two tracks after it.

I don't know how many of you might actually listen to NPR radio. There is a show on it called Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me. Yesterday Jerry Weintraub was on it. He is a Hollywood producer and organizer and has worked with several rock acts like Dylan, Zep, John Denver, Elvis etc... He told a few stories about some of the acts including Denver and Zeppelin.

He told a story about the first show he worked with Zeppelin, during the intermission, Jimmy Page came backstage and was complaining to him about the sound being so bad and that he couldn't hear himself play Stairway To Heaven. He told Jimmy that everything was fine and that he sounded terrific but Jimmy kept complaining. So he told Jimmy he would fix it for the following night. He then sent everyone out the next day to get as many cardboard boxes as he could get, had them all painted black and stacked them up on stage all over. Said they were stacked to the ceiling. When Jimmy came off the stage that night, he said to Jerry, "wow, that sound!".

As this thread has been revived I thought you might like to see Robert Plant the football fan surrounded with memorabilia of his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He even used a stylised Wolves logo on the Now And Zen album cover:

And as I am here, isn't this nice! A rare photo of Percy playing guitar.

Seems Jimmy is getting his own photo autobiography published next month but the Deluxe editions are already sold out and the limited edition that is signed is waaaaay out of my price range. There had better be an edition for us "average" fans also.

I like Page, but I don't want to be indentured to him!

I'm bringing some of the bands' threads forward of bands that I like. Led Zeppelin is probably my favorite if not one of my top favorite hard rock blues-based bands. Jimmy Page is amazing, and he got his main guitar (Gibson Les Paul) from Joe Walsh!!! Huge fan of Page's guitar playing and Zep's songs.

I almost feel like a traitor here on The Border in saying this, but Zep occupies the lion's share of my memory on my MP3. Page just sort of exuded music on that guitar....just squeezed it out of the neck somehow.

Favorite album I think would be ZOSO (Led Zep IV). But for a favorite song by ZEP...that's a tough one. Really like "Battle of Evermore" but like "Blackdog" and "When The Levey Breaks" and can't forget "Going To California" and "Misty Mountain Hop"....oh heck, I pretty much like all of them though I've sort of burned out on "Stairway".
