So I figured I'd share some of my favorite bands. It's no secret I'm a Classic Rock nut and that is the be all end all of music to me and the stuff that I listen to and play. Here is my top 10 favorite bands and my favorite song and album by each. I will leave the Eagles off of this list even though they are #1 because we already know about them.

Rolling Stones (Honky Tonk Women and Exile On Main Street)

Lynyrd Skynyrd (That Smell and Street Survivors)

AC/DC (You Shook Me All Night Long and Back In Black)

Aerosmith (Walk This Way and Toys In The Attic)

Fleetwood Mac (Gold Dust Woman and Rumours)

Guns N' Roses (Paradise City and Appetite For Destruction)

Led Zeppelin (Rock N' Roll and IV)

Beatles (Here Comes The Sun and Abbey Road)

Def Leppard (Pour Some Sugar On Me and Hysteria)

Journey (Don't Stop Believin' and Escape)

That is my kind of music and some of my favorite stuff. I obviously have other bands I love to death that aren't listed (Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company, Allman Brothers, .38 Special, ZZ Top, Cream, Cheap Trick, Heart, and The Black Crowes just to name a few) but those are my top 10 not including the Eagles which are at #1 obviously with my favorite song AND album being Hotel California. But that's too obvious.

Just thought I'd share some of my favorite stuff. Most of it if not all of it people have already heard of but I thought I'd share my favs.

Feel I need to pick this post apart a bit since you and I have similar taste in music and a lot of the same favorite bands. I found this very interesting. I do have a question also....you've said in the past how you basically enjoy the hits, and I notice a lot of your fave songs here are indeed the hits, but do you listen to EVERYTHING by your favorite bands? Just curious.

Love both of these but my fave songs (I actually have 2) by the Stones are Bitch (off of Sticky Fingers) and Slave (off of Tattoo You) and my favorite album is Sticky Fingers---it has HUGE hits on it like Wild Horses, Brown Sugar plus Bitch, Sister Morphine, Dead Flowers.

Aerosmith (Walk This Way and Toys In The Attic)
My fave Aerosmith songs are Last Child off of Rocks and Mama Kin off of Aerosmith. But I also love Hangman Jury and Kings And Queens. My favorite album would probably be Rocks.

Fleetwood Mac (Gold Dust Woman and Rumours)
Definitely Rumours but as far as favorite song.... not sure if I have one.

Guns N' Roses (Paradise City and Appetite For Destruction)
OMG!!! Love 'em!!! Definitely Appetite but song is another hard one. Love Mr. Brownstone, My Michelle, Rocket Queen, Sweet Child.... the list goes on and on!

Led Zeppelin (Rock N' Roll and IV)
Don't even ask me to pick favorites beyond Immigrant Song. Other than that, my answer would have to be ALL OF THEM!!!! Have I ever said how much I love Jimmy Page? He's a freakin' GOD!!!!!

Beatles (Here Comes The Sun and Abbey Road)
I've made a fool of myself a lot on this board by confessing I'm not a fan. That being said, I've finally started to realize just how good their stuff is, especially John Lennon, and that's mainly thanks to my hubby and quite a few Borderers (Cathy, Julie...). Still not a fave by any means but you can teach an old dog, new tricks. The songs that stick out right now are A Day In The Life and Lennon's Imagine. WOW!!!

Journey (Don't Stop Believin' and Escape)
Gotta be Journey with Steve Perry tho right? Don't know about fave album but my fave Journey song is probably Faithfully but also love Don't Stop Believin', Stone In Love, Just The Same Way, etc...

A little story about how much I loved Journey.... When Infinity came out, I believe I was about 14-15 years old. A couple friends and I were going to have a sleepover at one of the girls homes to have our first listen to it. I got very sick with tonsilitis and couldn't go. But I didn't want them to put off hearing it and since I didn't yet have it, told them to go on without me and I'd get to hear it later. (Quite a sacrifice!) Well that Saturday night, they called me and played the whole album over the phone for me. Now those are friends!!

Now my fave bands have been pretty obvious on this board, Eagles, Cars, Zeppelin, Sweet, Pink Floyd.... etc.... goes on and on after those first 5 bands.

Rocks is my 2nd favorite Aersomith album. Toys and Rocks are their best albums IMO. I love Back In The Saddle off of Rocks. That intro is a classic.

Ok--I'm an idiot!! Just was speaking with my husband and told him I was listening to The Stones discography today thanks to Austin's post earlier. He asked if I started with Some Girls since that's my all time favorite Stones album. DUH!!!! Of course it is and always has been! I've been listening to Sticky Fingers a lot lately because of Wild Horses & Bitch and guess it's stuck in my head. Now that's just embarrassing!!

Austin--Something else I was thinking about while listening to Exile--I find it interesting that you said that's your favorite album yet there are no BIG hits on it for the Stones. Curious on what you like about it that makes it your favorite even tho you are a self admitted lover of the hits. Inquiring minds!

Tumblin' Dice, Rocks Off, and Happy are my favs from that album. Those are hits (to my knowledge). It's just got a unique sound to it especially guitar wise and it is the Stones at their highest point. I think Exile is the "Hotel California" album of the Stones. I didn't care for the guitar playing of Brian Jones at all and I'm so-so about Ron Wood. Mick Taylor is where it's at as far as the guitar duo with Keith. Same way for me and the Eagles. I prefer Joe Walsh and Don Felder, not what came before it and I'm so-so about the current duo.

Also, Exile On Main Street is THE album in which Keith switched from Gibson Guitars (Les Paul) to Fender Guitars (Telecaster). He also switched from Ampeg Amps (SVT) to Fender Amps (Tweed) right before this album also. I actually prefer the sound of Keith with Fender guitars than Gibson guitars. Where I was p*ssed when Clapton switched from Gibson to Fender as he sounded better with Gibson. But Keith sounds best on a Fender Telecaster through a Fender Tweed amp. It's just got that barky sound that you only get with Fender gear.

Sticky Fingers is my 2nd fav FWIW. I don't care for much before the Mick Taylor era (starting with Sticky Fingers) and only like Start Me Up after the Mick Taylor era.

I have always found Exile overrated. I do like the 'down & dirty' sound of it. I love Rocks Off, Casino Boogie, Tumblin' Dice, Sweet Virginia,, Shine A Light, Torn & Frayed but my absolute favourite Stones album is Sticky Fingers followed by Beggars Banquet. My favourite Stones songs are Sympathy For The Devil & Honky Tonk Women

I have said before that IV is my favourite Zep album followed by Physical Graffiti & my two favourite songs are Stairway & Kashmir.

I won't discuss the Beatles here except I am surprised at Austin's choice of Here Comes The Sun. My favourite album is Revolver. Two favourite songs are Yesterday & Norwegian Wood. I will stop there....

Fleetwood Mac - favourite song is Go Your Own Way. The truth is I only have the Fleetwood Mac & Rumours albums.

Aerosmith - I only like individual songs like Dude (Looks Like A Lady) & Janie's Got A Gun.

I'm not into the other bands mentioned.

I somehow missed this question earlier.

I did give each of my favorite bands a once through of listening to all of their stuff but each of my favorite bands have at least one album I can not stand. Same with songs. I do like some deeper tracks but I'd say most of it is popular stuff. So I guess I don't always listen to everything by my favorite bands.

Maybe I should do a list of my least favorite albums from my favorite bands listed.

I can do that but I would list solo artists too.

Beatles: I hate to pick a least favourite. I would say Magical Mystery Tour but I think of that as a compilation in a way. I suppose it's actually Please Please Me.
    Eagles: One Of These Nights
Glenn Frey: It used to be Soul Searchin' but I think it's now The Allnighter.
Don Henley: Building The Perfect Beast
Rolling Stones: Of the ones I have, Goats Head Soup
    Dire Straits: Love Over Gold
    Mark Knopfler: Golden Heart
    Led Zeppelin: Presence
    Robert Plant: Shaken & Stirred
Elton John: I didn't keep some of the really bad ones. Of the ones I have, I would say Reg Strikes Back.
Neil Young: Tonight's The Night (OVERRATED).
    Van Morrison: Pay The Devil
    REM: Murmur (OVERRATED).
Bob Dylan: I have none of the albums which are considered weak. I suppose Infidels, even though it was produced by Mark Knopfler.
Randy Newman: Maybe Trouble In Paradise
    Bee Gees: Still Waters
    Bob Seger: Against The Wind

    That's probably enough.

Now that's a different concept, isn't it? I'd can't think of any I really dislike of my top favorite artist. Especially groups like Eagles, Cars & Zeppelin---I listen to pretty much everything, maybe a couple songs for each group that I will skip but not whole albums. But I guess there's a difference between dislike and least favorite, right?

So least favorite--tho I still like.

Albums-off the top of my head

    Eagles-Desperado
    Cars-Door To Door
    Zeppelin-Presence
Sweet-Identity Crisis (after Brian left the band)
    Pink Floyd-Atom Heart Mother
Rolling Stones-Goats Head Soup or Undercover
    Van Halen-Balance

I'm sure I've said it before but I'll say it again, Zeppelin in the one group that I can literally put on their discography and NOT skip a song. Even the stuff I don't care as much for, I will listen to just because their sound never ceases to amaze me. They are just that good to me. I can't even say that about the Eagles. The Eagles have been and always will be my favorite but I will still skip a couple songs. Does that make sense to anyone? Don't quite know how to explain what Zeppelin is to me.

Even Presence contains the magnificent All My Love & the pretty good In The Evening & Royal Orleans.

I feel about the Beatles the way you do about Zep, but Revolution #9 - sorry. Too much Yoko for me. My other least favourite Beatles song is Hold Me Tight but most of the time I wallow in their genius.

As for Dire Straits can I just say that while Love Over Gold contains the superb Private Investigations & Industrial Disease, Telegraph Road is overrated & the other two songs, the title track & It Never Rains, do nothing for me. As for Golden Heart I came to it late. Though it was the first solo album, I bought it after the second & third albums & it has never struck a chord with me the way the others have. It contains one indisputably great track which is Done With Bonaparte.
