Wow, he sounds really cool I like that.

A month or two ago I came across these older concert videos from a Toto tour in 1990 in Europe, Paris. I always liked their music but when I saw these video clips I was stunned

Steve Lukather's vocals, the feelings he put into the songs... incredible. The piano intro here is so emotional. Every time when I watch this I don't notice anymore what happens around me, I'm mesmerized

Most of you here know that The Cars and Benjamin Orr is one of my all time favorite bands. To be honest never paid much attention to what Benjamin or the other members did before becoming the Cars. Recently started looking into it and found out that Benjamin and Ric Ocasek had a couple of other bands before. One was called Milkwood which put out one album called How's The Weather in 1972 and then later with Cars guitarist had a band call Cap 'N Swing.

Anyways been listening to some of the Milkwood music, Benjamin sang lead on, and I think some of you here may really like it. It's kinda folksy, CSN like.

In the Rock N Roll birthday thread PM was saying that she hadn't realized that "my Car", Benjamin Orr, had sung a couple of her favorite Cars songs instead of the other lead singer Ric Ocasek. I remembered this thread and thought I'd add a few for her to check out. As you can see, the last stuff I posted in this thread was some of Benjamin's pre-Car stuff.

    Everything You Say

Not only is his voice amazing in this but his bassline also.

    Oh my.....
    All Mixed Up

    Their most popular song ever.
    Drive
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbTjzZzfR7w[/ame]

I know I've posted this before but this is my all time fave vid of theirs-Benjamin's is so frickin' sexy and very very stoned by the look of his eyes.
    Just What I Needed
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsPh-EgH65M[/ame]

This was his very first solo hit (only had 2) from his one and only solo album. Unfortunately he was in the process of getting music together for his second one when he discovered he had the pancreatic cancer. I am lucky enough to have a bootleg of what he had done till he was forced to stop recording. To date, it has never been released tho there is still talk that it could happen.
    Stay The Night
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwWTLREMpTc[/ame]

And here is the other hit off of that solo album. For a bass player with rhythm, he doesn't dance worth crap. Extremely 80s! Yikes!
    To Hot To Stop

I'm also posting this one even tho Benjamin didn't sing the lead here. This song just cracks me up live. Watch keyboardist Greg Hawkes (a friend of mine of Facebook-just had to add that-he's such a sweetie!) doing all the strange sounds in the video. He's great!

Thanks for these Willie! I've always loved the song Drive and never knew The Cars did it! See there? This is an educational site-I learned something new today! lol

And Benjamin is beautiful! I did not know how good looking he was. Those cheekbones in Just What I Needed?! Swoon!

For lack of a better place to put this. This greeted me this morning when I brought up my Facebook. It's a picture of the 4 remaining original Cars in the studio working on something. Taken just days ago! How freakin' exciting is this? Supposedly they are getting ready to put out a new remastered Heartbeat City to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album that will include 2 never released songs sung by Benjamin. But this looks as if they are working on something more!!! Dare I hope it's a new Cars album, albeit without Benjamin but this is better than nothing!

Left to right--Ric Ocasek, Greg Hawkes (keyboardist usually), David Robinson (drums and who hasn't been in the music business for years now) and Elliot Easton (guitarist-but looks as if he's playing bass here?).

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Jude Cole but he's one of my favorites. I love all of his songs and thought I'd share a few here.

    My favorite right now

If you have the correct Left to Right order, Easton is playing a 6-string Gibson SG. His left hand position looks similar to a position a basist would use, but I think he is just "plucking" strings without a pick. The second from the left (Hawkins) is playing bass in this picture.

You are of course right Mike. Hence the reason I had the question mark next to Elliot's name. A week ago, some more studio pictures were put on their website. so freakin' exciting. Here's on of Ric.

WC--Love Jude Cole and my favorite song is Start The Car. The line, "Well, there's people dying on the streets/Sure don't make the news/While others livin' up on the hill/Singing the white boy blues", gets me every time. So freakin' true!! He is so soulful. I remember when his first album, that included Start The Car, came out, I was still working outside the home and had a rather long drive back & forth. I swear I wore that cassette out listening to it. It was in my deck for months.
