Very sad. It's been reported by his family that prescription drugs may have affected his judgment and mental state. Regardless, he's gone way too soon.

It's tragic that major acts from the 90s have lost their lead singer...Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Blind Melon...

"Black Hole Sun" is one of those defining songs of that era for me.

    RIP

For me too. But it's also timeless. Still can't believe someone's written a song that great. Musically the originality of it reminds me of something like Procol Harum's "(A) Salty Dog".

I find it even more tragic if he didn't actually have any suicidal thoughts, but the prescription drug messed up his head. http://variety.com/2017/music/news/c...de-1202436611/

I assume you have seen Finland's own Leningrad Cowboys do this song with an opera singer?

I knew precisely none of Cornell's music but his death is very sad. I read about the timeline earlier. RIP.

But suicide is very hard to deal with. The family are already saying it was 'accidental'.

Thanks for the link, Freypower. I have never heard it as I've never been interested in Leningrad Cowboys, but I will definitely check that one out.

Looks like Joe was at Chris's funeral. Did they actually know each other?

Thanks for the info Chaim. Joe's attended a lot of musician's funerals over the years. I can't believe that he was close friends with all of them but they were all united by a shared vocation.

The Daily Mail has a pic of Joe and Marjorie at Chris Cornell's funeral.
