Stars, great to hear you had so much fun. I would like to see them too. Maybe I will get the chance some day.

Last week I went to see Foreigner, the third time this year lol Wow, that was a fantastic night and their best show. Well, at least from what I've seen from them. We had first row and were so close we could reach out our arms and touch the stage.
One of the best was we met the boys backstage after the concert They were so nice, they welcomed us so warm with a hug and kiss on the cheek *sigh* And I didn't have to ask Mick Jones for a picture, he asked me

A few pictures from that night:

    Mick and me:

And I continued "talking" to Steve Lukather from Toto... meanwhile I feel at home on his website He always answers no matter what we ask, it's a lot of fun. Love him and his sense of humor! I met another girl there from Berlin, we both are the only ones who are posting regulary... to make sure he remember us when we go to the show.

EF---LOVE the pics!!! Foreigner was in our area a couple months ago and I tried desperately to get good seats but couldn't. I'm spoiled and only want good seats any more so we didn't go. I will get the chance one of these days. Kelly really is a doll isn't he? I just want to say Lou Gramm who?

I still think that's really cool that Steve is involved in the board like that. We have a similar situation on the Sweet board I belong to where Steve Priest gets on and participates at times also. And the time I got called out on the Sweet board by Eric Carmen, after I called him a one hit wonder! Oops!! Very cool when they "mingle" with us common fans isn't it?

    Very cool EF!

Speaking of Lou Gramm, he's going to be at the Decatur Celebration this Saturday. Unfortunately I won't get to see him because we are going on Sunday. We will be seeing The Georgia Satellites and The Charlie Daniels Band, plus they have scheduled a Rod Stewart Tribute, The Legend of Johnny Cash and a Heart tribute band I want to see called Heartless.

Our Hippiefest is tonight. Looking forward to that!

He is When you've seen him you would never ever wish to see Lou back in the band. And Mick is such a sweetheart, and of course Jeff and Tommy.
Oops Willie, what a faux pas

I'm considering to see Bobby Kimball now It's only a 30 minutes drive from my home in a very intimate venue. Should be fun. Gosh, meanwhile I gave up counting the concerts I've been to this year and it doesn't stop
I have tickets for Ray Wilson and Steve Lukather, both in November and maybe I will see Bobby.

    Have fun, PM

EF, thanks for the pics! They are fantastic! I didn't know about Foreigner without Lou, but sounds like they are great.

I still can't get over the 'Hippifest'! I'd love to go! My hubby has worked in Decatur a couple different times this year so far.

There's actually a Hippiefest party that starts at 5 o'clock and you can dress in your hippie best! But Hubby won't get home from work until after 5 so we won't make it to the party.

Hey man, I'm back from Hippiefest and it was far out man! I parted my long straight hair down the middle, put on my most faded pair of bellbottoms and a peasant-style top, some leather sandals and a pair of big hoops and off we went! (Hubby didn't get into the spirit of things and wore a polo shirt and khaki shorts.)

Anyway, lots of people were dressed in their hippie finest. We saw lots of tye dye, headbands on women and men and did I say lots of tye dye? One guy walked by us toward the front row with a long black wig (I think it was a wig), headband, bellbottoms, vest and a guitar slung onto his back! There were two problems with the crowd. It was too small (only about 200 people in the civic center!) and lots of them were drunk, so there was a little heckling going on, but nothing that caused a problem. The most difficult part for us was trying to leave the civic center after the show. You have to walk up a very curved, graded ramp, and the guy in front of us was so drunk that he kept stopping to regain his footing and yelling unintelligable things to other people. But we eventually got out.

We knew we were seeing Mitch Ryder, Badfinger and Rare Earth but we had no idea what order they would play or how long they would play. Well, Hubby and I assumed Badfinger would play last because they were our favorites. Wrong! They played first. And it's not really Badfinger anymore. It's Badfinger featuring Joey Molland. You think the Eagles had personallity issues? Read about Badfinger in Wiki. But none of that was evident here. After all this was Hippiefest! Peace and Love! Badfinger did four songs:

    Come And Get It
    Baby Blue
    Day After Day
No Matter What (Here's a video from a Hippiefest in Georgia last year)

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O61KDKYj6PM[/ame]

Even though they only played for 15 minutes, these were my favorite songs from the show.

Next up - Mitch Ryder. He did about four songs too, including

    Jenny Take A Ride
    Sock It To Me Baby
    Devil With A Blue Dress

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FOLAqoRImI[/ame]

Last was Rare Earth and they were clearly the headliner, playing for about an hour. Here are some of the songs I remember from last night:

    Born To Wander
    Papa Was A Rolling Stone
    Tobacco Road
    I Just Want To Celebrate

and a 15 minute version of this one. The drummer still has an amazing voice!

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANrkVF_FkEI[/ame]

I've said this before- listening to an original artist do a song you heard on the radio years ago is one of my favorite things! Granted, Joey Molland was not the original lead singer for Badfinger, but the other two acts were the original!

Too bad the turnout was so low. We probably won't have Hippiefest here again.
