Well, that's news to me! I had no idea. So, will these be covers or original material?

I thought covers when I heard about it. He recorded it before the Seger tour, early this year. That's why we saw this photo surface:

I knew if I went back far enough, I'd find this topic again. March 2013 wow!

Since this news first hit, The Rolling Stones have recorded a blues album in the same vein, using the same producer too. Joe has also contributed to blues legend, John Mayall's most recent album http://liveforlivemusic.com/reviews/...-reviewstream/

Now Keb Mo and Taj Mahal have produced a blues album, with Joe playing guitar on it too. http://nodepression.com/album-review...luesy-fusion-0

I'm disappointed that there's been no new Walsh album since Analog Man but it's a little consolation that Joe's still got stuff coming out .:

This 2013 article was probably posted somewhere already but it was interesting that Joe and Co. had completed 12 tracks for the blues album. I wonder what happened to them? It sounds like they were recorded.

Walsh says the group finished "about 12 tracks, and it's really good. We'll probably do it again before I call it finished, but we got a really good start on it."

He isn't putting a firm timetable on that, but Walsh is already hatching plans for what more he'd like to do with the project.

"My thought is maybe to go out and play, like, jazz festivals in Europe with that lineup when the album comes out," says Walsh, who's in the midst of a run opening for good pal Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band. "I thought that would be great, and it's some really good people who normally wouldn't get a chance to play with each other, and the music was really magic."
Unrelated but cool what he said about Bernie in anticipation of the HOTE tour:
Walsh adds that he's particularly looking forward to having Eagles co-founder Bernie Leadon, who he replaced, on the road as a special guest for the tour.

"Bernie's brilliant," Walsh says. "I never really got a chance to play with him, but we've been in contact. We see him from time to time, and I'm really glad he's coming because it's going to take the show up a notch, and I'm really looking forward to playing with him, finally."

    Taj and ‘Keb ‘Mo's album TajMo is being streamed here;

https://americansongwriter.com/2017/...tajmo/?mid=272 so you can listen to Joe laying his groove on their cover of The Who's Squeeze Box.

Sleep, Joe's contribution to Todd Rundgren's new album White Knightis actually a co-write with Todd. It's quite different from Joe's regular stuff.

In the case of Joe Satriani and Joe Walsh, oddly enough, a lot of the guitar players had very well-developed ideas that they sent me, actual whole tracks.

Artists with Walsh songs (not covers) included on their albums are pretty sparse. The James gang, Ringo Starr and Eagles have quite a few. Stevie Winwood has the wonderful, Split Decision. Joe did a few with The Herbs and now Todd Rundgren.

    There must be more....

Joe hasn't got a writing credit for Rub Me Raw, although his guitar features heavily.

    (Copied from Wikipedia)

    "Rub Me Raw"
    (Calderón, Zevon)

    Warren Zevon – vocals
Jorge Calderón – electric guitar and bass guitar
    Jim Keltner – drums
    Joe Walsh – slide guitar

I checked ELP's, L.A. Nights too. Lots of Walsh on it (vocals and guitars) but no writing credit.

There's a little more about Todd Rundgren's Sleep on http://927thedrive.net/news/classic-rock-news

For his collaboration with Walsh, "Sleep," Rundgren says he completely rearranged an idea Joe sent him, so "it took him a little while to recognize it. But, in the end, I think he was happy with what we did."
