Devastated. First Dave then Alan now Glenn. I wish I could wake up from this nightmare.
I'd been aware of his illness for a while, but it still came as a shock. Somehow I always thought, despite logic and science clearly stating otherwise, that his passing would keep being postponed......
I am wearing a KISS t-shirt right now :partytime:
It would've been so great if they'd had alternative versions of some songs with different people on lead vocals but, then again, I guess they preferred to stick to what they thought was best. I...
Thank you, very interesting.
Regarding the previous discussion about leadership by the time Felder joined, I seem to remember he already described that in his book when he mentioned the first...
It's me, about three and a half years ago, back when I weighed about a billion pounds less than now...
Excellent and nicely put. Has anyone read Glyn Johns' book? I haven't bought it yet (hopefully will soon), but I heard he bashes Eagles a bit, which is a shame...
Fascinating thread, and I've learnt a lot from it.
In Freddie Mercury's defence, the whole idea about his alleged 'standards' is based on comments from other people, which have been taken out of...
Not meaning to be pedantic but: huh? Joe played on no albums and Tim on minus one album?
The second one (quintet, no Joe and no Tim). I think both Joe and Tim are extraordinary musicians, but I still prefer Bernie and Randy, especially vocal-wise.
I think it was also better for the song to include the e-piano intro, as it's just as vital as the solo IMO.
I get the goosebumps everytime I hear Glenn playing a solo. The first time I saw 'Get Over It', I couldn't get over it (incredibly lame pun), and kept repeating those bits over and over.
I decided to play producer and do some Take It Easy mixes:

Lyrics are also different, as instrumentation itself (no banjo, for instance).
You can also pretend you're Johns or Szymczyk and make your own mix. An a cappella version, an unplugged version, a drums + vox remix, etc.
If you're used to 2013 Glenn it's obviously gonna be different as it's been four decades.
Piano + organ are in one of the guitar tracks, they're in the background but you can spot them at some points. They're just an extra layer anyway.
That version of 'Take It Easy' is not the one on...
Is Glenn a sports fan? If so, does he have a favourite team?
Fixed. They should work now.
Hotel California:

What's the legality of that? I'm honestly asking, I don't know the rules of regulations of the forum regarding mp3 and all that.
Edit: BTW, AFAIR, Glenn sings a different part live, one that's not...
There are some multitracks in the i-net where you can listen to just the bass, just the drums, just the vocals, etc. I listened closely and am 99% sure it's Don + Don. Live, it'd be a different...
I agree to disagree. For me, the guitar, bass, etc., are important, very important, incredibly important... but the lead vocal is more important. It comes with being a lyric-oriented listener (and...
Here's my (temporary) breakdown of Hotel California:
Basic track: drums, bass and twelve-string rhythm (by Felder, I reckon).
Guitar overdubs:
Another twelve-string electric (doubling the...
In a band that's just starting or hasn't peaked yet: whoever the principal songwriter is. Otherwise, yeah, the singer. It's not 'impossible' to replace them, but it certainly affects the product more...
