Re: Today in Eagles History
Thanks for posting those pics of Joe's wedding, Soda.
Do we even know the dates of the others' weddings? I know Glenn's 1st marriage date & Joe's latest, but none of the other exact dates. I have read in your biography of Glenn that he & Cindy were married in August 1990. Doyou know the date?
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
I knew at one time but I've forgotten it, I'm afraid. I have a hard enough time remembering anniversaries of family members, much less Glenn and Cindy's! lol
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
I know what you mean. I do well to remember my anniversary, although I do remember that it is the same year as Glenn & Cindy's.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Thank you, Soda, for posting the links to the articles on Don and Sharon's wedding. I've read them before but it was nice to go back and read them again. Wow!! That must have been one star studded and memorable wedding. Congrats to them on their anniversary.
And the wedding pics of Joe were very nice too. I have never seen them before. Thanks for posting those.

What WAS Glenn:heart:'s first marriage date please GL?

Re: Today in Eagles History
Glenn married Janie Beggs on June 17, 1983.

Re: Today in Eagles History
Awwww! I was only 15 then! Lol! I guess a bit young
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
I was old enough, I was 26 :sigh:.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Well I thought today is a very important day in Eagles history that is worthy of mention here. Today was the very first time the band appeared on the Billboard charts with Take It Easy and they've never looked back since then!

Rock on guys!!!

Re: Today in Eagles History
TIE is my all time favourite song (by any artist)! I made sure that I listened to it today. Of course I usually listen to it every day anyway :grooving:.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Shoot! I missed that yesterday! TIE is my alltime fave, too. I must make up for that today! :grooving:

Re: Today in Eagles History
1993- Glenn's Live In Dublin. I must admit I've never seen it. Does anyone know (and I know someone will!) if I can still get it somewhere?
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
TBF, I'm not positive, but I think the DVD is still commercially available. You can check Amazon. If you can't find it there, of course, there is always ebay. It is a great concert, so you should consider it a "must have'.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
I bought Dublin a few months ago from eBay (after some prompting from GA!) I think it was £3.

But it was never released officially on DVD. All DVDs that exist of it have been transferred from the old video. I never looked for it on Amazon for that reason.
Edit: In fact, this page makes depressing reading:

Re: Today in Eagles History
I got mine through eBay too, from the UK. It was a DVD that had been copied from the VHS tape. I didn't pay that much for it either, but I sure got my monies worth! I love it!
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Thanks guys. FP, I agree, not much there huh?
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
I got my copy from a friend and I'll say its one of the best I've ever seen. I know that the video still comes up new on eBay every so often. Its a great watch. My favourite track on it is 'Partytown'
And it was great to see that on 'Today in Eagles History' their concert in Lansdowne Road in 2006 is documented. Thanks Soda!
That was the first Eagles concert I ever attended and I can still remember like it was yesterday. The band came out, and went straight into TIE. I took ONE look at a certain fuschia shirted Glenn  Frey and I was in love :inlove: and still am!!
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Depressing indeed, FP. Shoot the manufacturers!:machinegun::wink:
A friend made a copy of Live In Dublin for me, too, and I've lost count as to how many times I've watched it. Glenn  looks fresh-faced and fit, looks nowhere near his 42 years of age (which he was at the time), is dynamic and has the crowd eating out of his hands. Wonderful.

My sister has a DVD (a copy of the video) from Dublin Concert on ebay found also for approximately £3 and she has bought to me the DVD yesterday. :):partytime:

Great, Koala! As others have said, it's definitely worth it.

Yah, I'm sure the DVD is really good!
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Wow, Koala, you've done it again (the signature). I wish I had your talents.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Koala's sig is beautiful, but you don't do too bad yourself, FP.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
We have some very talented Sig designers on here

Abstract: Rolling Stone's version of the softball game grudge match where

Cynd, I think the game was actually played on May 6, 1978. The article about the game appeared in the June issue of Rollin' Stone magazine, so today is probably the day the magazine hit the newstands.

Re: Today in Eagles History
I noticed that today is another pretty important date in Eagles' history. It was 32 years ago today that the Hotel California album hit #1 on the Billboard charts. It turned out to be a pretty significant album for the guys.
Congratulations, Hotel California!
I guessing that 32 years from now, people will still be familiar with this album.

 Lets see--32 years from now I will be 77 years old--Yup I should still be spreading the word of the Eagles and their music. After all, I've been spreading more than that many years already.

Did anybody check out what today is? THE FIRST TIME THE ORIGINAL EAGLES EVER PLAYED TOGETHER! They weren't called the "Eagles" yet of course but it's still a pretty important date. It was 38 years ago today. Hard to believe!

WOW!! Isn't it just? I bet while plenty of people would have said that the group performing had potential, I'm sure nobody realised to what heights they would soar over the next 4 decades. And that even tonight, they are still going strong in Manchester.
-
Re: Today in Eagles History
Yes Soda, I did notice it. Glad you posted something about it here. I've been trying to post on and off all day, but kept getting interrupted with supposedly 'important stuff'.

And GA, ITA. Who would've thunk it! Congratulations to the band on 38 incredible years!!! (Well, except for that 14 year vacation - but even then, their music just wouldn't die).

Re: Today in Eagles History
Unbelievable! :yay: Do we know anything else about the show? Set list?
