Re: Celebration of "No Fun Aloud"
Looking back at early posts in the thread, I see some grumbling about the banter at the start of "I've Been Born Again". If you listen to the original by Johnnie Taylor, you'll hear that it's a straight copy. Clearly, Glenn thought it was an important part of the song and he even kept the banter when performing live.
Here's the Johnnie Taylor version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEWNIMW-se8

Thank you, Pippin, I’ve read it before (that quote about the beer belly and singing TIE always stood out to me, lol) but it’s nice to re-visit. :-)

I had no idea! Thanks for the info, UTW!
Re: Celebration of "No Fun Aloud"
Happy birthday to No Fun Aloud!!
Re: Celebration of "No Fun Aloud"
Happy, happy to NFA! "I'll Volunteer" still makes me melt!
Re: Celebration of "No Fun Aloud"
The one that gets me is the magnificent "That Girl." One of my favorite Glenn songs. It's so romantic and melodic, and his voice has this vulnerability to it even when he's singing with strength.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO NO FUN ALOUD!!!
I absolutely love this album. There is not a bad song on it, IMO and I love it's diversity - everything from the fun and energetic 'Partytown' and 'Sea Cruise' to the meltworthy 'I Volunteer' and 'That Girl' and everything else in between. Even though I love every song, my personal favorite is 'All Those Lies'.
Re: Celebration of "No Fun Aloud"
Ah, the one that eludes me...
Happy Anniversary, NFA!

Don't do Spotify, but I have been known to keep it "permanently" checked out on Hoopla. ;)
