I think they would know it. They just wouldn't necessarily associate it with the Eagles. I have a Brewer's Dictionary of Modern Phrase & Fables which state the phrase was 'coined in 1976' but doesn't give its actual origin.

I went to my dad and brother's club this evening. Fraternal Order of Eagles.

I was amazing my Grandad this morning with the wonders of Google Street View (!) and he asked me to find their old house in Oxford, which I did. As I was navigating it, I saw that their road led into Henley Street. I smiled but remained silent. He wouldn't get it. ;)
I want to live on Henley Street! lol
Henley St. is the main drag near UT's campus in Knoxville...I always used to giggle at the name when I was younger, though :grin:
