Now, this is actually about his sister, but it's still interesting - she's running for Mayor of Gainesville, Florida!

I had no idea that Bernie had come from such a large musical family.
Me either, TBF. I had heard about Mark and Tom Leadon who were musicians, but that was it. I certainly didn't know that Bernie had 9 siblings.
Great quote. Bernie knows a thing or two about not getting enough credit as he was one of the pioneers of country rock music himself. Chris Hillman and Gene Clark are the ones I'd credit most. Of course they both worked with Bernie in previous bands, all of which predated the Flying Burrito Brothers by several years.Quote:

Wow, this is so strange - I was just thinking about this quote today because I was listening to "My Man" and I return to the board to see it commented upon!
Indeed, Bernie doesn't get enough credit. It's ironic - when the Eagles began, he was the most recognizable name as a veteran of more than one well-respected band. As you pointed out, he had worked with the best in country rock prior to joining.

Wow - thanks for finding that Koala. It's nice to see Bernie getting some press. He does interviews so rarely so it's a treat whenever we hear anything from him.
Cool! I didn't know he lived in Nashville!
ooh! Very cool to hear from Bernie!
Dude's a class act. Nashville is lucky to have him.
Bernie article.

Wow! Nice article and even better interview. Thanks!
A new Bernie interview! Excellent! That is one cool guy.
Loved reading that - what a rare treat!
Two things stood out to me. He doesn't seem bitter or angry at having left the band. I like his "that's life" attitude, especially when you compare it to Don Felder's "poor me" attitude.
I also love that he ended the interview saying:
"Be nice to one another, it doesn't cost anything, and it makes the day so much more pleasant. Don't you think?"
I do, Bernie. I really do. :)
Wow, that was great! He seems like a genuinely nice guy and class act.
Nice interview. Bernie sounds like a great guy.
Found this cute mention today in an article about Fred Walecki:
I think it's safe to say Walecki got a return on that investment. ;)Quote:

Bernie Leadon recently delivered a eulogy for friend and former bandmate Doug Dillard. You can read it in full here:

Scroll down quite a bit for it; it's about three-quarters of the way down and entitled "Doug Dillard Eulogy by Bernie Leadon."
A lovely sentiment. You can tell that Bernie really loved and admired Doug.
I'm sad to hear of Doug's passing. RIP. Another legend gone :(
An upcoming interview with Bernie!! There's a few interesting snippets here.

LOL I love that bit as well. I really do need to download that to my kindle here soon. I would love to read that.
Oooh an interview with Bernie!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!
Great! :yay:
I truly think Leadon was sorry for how he ended his stint with the great band. I hope he gets to do some shows with them.
SC, until we fix our 'bug', you need to type out L-eadon or Lead0n!
Bernie is an awesome musician. I hope he re-joins the boys for their upcoming tour. He is one of the originals after all.
Here's an interview with Rusty Young about Poco in which he compliments Bernie:

Bernie is getting a lot of press news on tour with the Eagles this year, but this one was specifically about him getting kudos from Linda Ronstadt in her new book Simple Dreams:

I especially liked her quote about Bernie in term's of his singing with the Eagles and I couldn't agree more:
“Don’s voice is certainly a great solo instrument and so is Glenn’s, they both can sing lead, but Bernie’s voice has a quality to it that enhances other voices. It’s a strong voice and he can crank it up in the high register. It was a real important voice in terms of forming the group’s vocal sound and what it made the vocal blend sound like. I always felt people didn’t necessarily notice it.”
Can't wait to hear him back in the blend when they come to L.A. in January
Thanks for posting! Good to hear what she said. I'm loving seeing Bernie with them! He's been a lot of fun to watch.
Yes, he has!
Agreed!
I remember reading about Bernie in her book, too! She has the highest regard for him!
Thanks for posting. I really like his voice and I'm looking forward to hearing him, too.
It's cool to hear Bernie's voice characterized that way. I don't think he gets enough props for his singing ability. I remember Glenn saying in the HOTE documentary that when Bernie left, their vocals as a band suffered but that's about it besides this.
