So What is a great album, though also quite sad, as it has Pavanne and Song For Emma on. I can't listen to Song for Emma without welling up a little, such a heartfelt song.
I had heard the story of Emma, and so I downloaded that song off of iTunes a while back even though I didn't get the album. It made me tear up too, especially these lines: "You were with us for a while and He took you, and He made your mama cry. I can see it in her eyes, there's a question as to why. And after all this time still I find that I'm without an answer. Good Bye. Bye love."
geez.......did you have to post this soda lol Now I'M tearing up and that's just a small portion of the song! And I've never even heard it!
I know, Maleah, it's so sad. The only song I can find that's comparable is George Strait's Baby Blue, which he recorded as a tribute to his daughter who died at the age of 13 in a car accident. "Baby blue was the color of her eyes. Baby blue, like the Colorado skies. Like a breath of spring she came and left, and I still don't know why.... but here's to you and whoever holds my Baby Blue tonight."
*sigh* Just when I got to feeling a little bit better...........ya had to spring that one on me. lol That is such a beautiful, sad song. Did George write the song? Or was it about somebody else and their baby?
George didn't write it, no, but he dedicated it to her. It really is gorgeous, although so very sad.
awwwwwww, I didn't know that. That's so sad. Sometimes it's so hard to understand why things happen the way they do. :(
Okay - now you all stop this. You've got me tearing up, too. :weep:
