If you listen to the first James Gang live album (pre-Eagles, obviously) it's really, ummm, OBVIOUS that Joe got better when he started hanging around the Eagles. Technically Joe's solo live album is pre-Eagles but only by moments. He had already been hanging around them a lot at that time. They're on the album. The improvement in Joe's vocals between those two live albums are amazing.
I also like how ahead of his time he was. Talking about environmental issues in the early '80's. It's been a running theme in his music that I've always admired.
Thanks again!
I enjoyed it too! Now I need to listen to both of those albums and see if I can tell!

I've thought about this before in the past. Probably not completely accurate but Joe was definitely ahead of his time.

Joe has posted on Facebook about the death of his former bass player Rick Rosas, who I was familiar with from his work with Neil Young.
Rick Rosas (Rick the Bass Player) passed away yesterday morning. He was about as good of a friend as anybody could ever have.
