Re: Today in Eagles History
I belive that the OOTN Survivor game allowed me to really appreciate this song in a way I hadn't before. It's so sultry I just love it. I can just picture them singing this back in 75... ah...
Thanks PM, I've been missing you all too! Just really busy w/the summer schedule... work has been crazy too. I hope to get back here more often when things calm down a bit.

Congratulations to One of These Nights!
It was the album, not just the song!!! I agree with you all that this is a great song but it had a few more just ok songs also didn't it? ;)
Re: Today in Eagles History
Good catch TBF! I was about to make the same comment. However, the song hit number one a few days later, as everyone will soon see!
Re: Today in Eagles History
See what happens when I drive by post! Yep, some real classic came off of that album. One of my all time fav's, Lyin' Eyes. Then of course Soda's favorite Take it to the Limit. Another love of mine After the Thrill is Gone.
Yes, a mighty good album indeed.
Re: Today in Eagles History
Congrats to One of These Nights!
A fantastic album and song! Love it, love it, love it!
Re: Today in Eagles History
30 years ago today, the Eagles played their last concert until that fateful night in 1994 when "Hell Froze Over"! You can hear the concert here, but the sound drops out between songs because apparently the sound guys were instructed to not let the audience hear the insults being tossed around every time a song ended.
Someone did a song countdown - "Four songs until I kick your ass"... then "Three songs until I kick your ass..." then "Two songs until I kick your ass..." etc. as the concert progressed with the other guy responding "Yeah! I can't wait!" Both Glenn and Felder claim it was the other guy who was the aggressor doing the countdown. I find the macho posturing hilarious either way, even though it was a sad day for Eagles fans who would miss hearing their favorite band for quite a while.
Re: Today in Eagles History
Yep - probably up to now the single saddest day in Eagles history. Of course, at the time no one knew it was the end. As a matter of fact, the band's breakup wasn't officially announced for two more years. I remember being very devastated at the announcement, although not surprised. I really didn't think they'd ever get back together. That's one time that I can say I am VERY glad I was wrong!
And on a lighter note, it was one year ago today that the Eagles online radio channel was launched. Happy birthday, Eagles Radio!
Re: Today in Eagles History
Here's to Eagles Radio!
Re: Today in Eagles History
I learn so much just by being on this board! I wasn't familiar with the "ass-kickin' coutdown"!
Re: Today in Eagles History
I remember reading about the ass kicking countdown. What I always wondered was what the other guys were thinking while it was all going down. Was Timothy just thinking, get me the hell away from these lunatics, was Don H. thinking, I sure hope Glenn kicks his ass? Was Joe even aware enough to know anything was going on? :hmm:  It would be interesting to know. Another reason we need book(s) boys!!!
