The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
Ever been to Deadwood, South Dakota? Well, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, all 50-plus years strong, will be playing there for the Wild Bill Days throw down, on Saturday, June 16.
Deadwood is an amazing little town, way cooler than the TV show that featured more blood than a big-city emergency room. I myself, personally, will be there, and, if you ask nicely, I might just buy you a beer.
Maybe.
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
peneumbra, I have been to Deadwood, we did the whole Mount Rushmore thing 3 summers ago and traveled to Deadwood one day. ITA, it is an amazing little town, I love the history to it all. Seeing the saloons, hotels and the actual bars from back in the day was pretty cool. We did catch a few shoot-out reenactments as well.
I'm sure Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will put on a grand show there.
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
Hi peneumbra, I have also been to Deadwood. A very cool little town. I went there when I went to Mt. Rushmore years go. I had a great time there. I'm sure it will be a great show - enjoy. Oh, and have a cold one for me !
BTW - I loved the show Deadwood. I wish it had stayed on tv a little longer. IMHO, it was a great show.
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
How great of a show that will be. I saw them here in MT about 15 years ago. Excellent laid back music. Brought back many great memories.
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
OK, all you slackers! You've still got time to drive over to Deadwood, South Dakota, to catch this free - FREE! - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band date on Saturday.
Deadwood is only about 1500 miles from anywhere (unless you live in the Dakotas or Wyoming), but don't let that stop you. Leave now, drive straight through without sleeping, and you'll arrive in plenty of time!:band:
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
But for the "small" issues of work, family, time and money--I would be there! Love the Dirt Band!
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
Sounds like fun but I’m already going to be taking a harrowing trip into downtown Houston to see the Eagles with Vince and Deacon this Friday. :blueblob:

I have decided that I'm too chicken (and/or too old) to fight the traffic at big city concerts such as Houston.(Shudders). I'd drive to my hotel and take a cab!
Y'all have a safe trip and a big time! Oh, and wave at Deacon for me!
And peneumbra, you be safe, too....and say hello to Jeff Hanna!
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
So you guys are gonna let little things like work and family get in the way of having a good time?!? Oh Boy.
No wonder it's so hard to make a living in the music business these days...
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
peneumbra - I have been to Deadwood(1999) and it is a cute little town. Being I live about 2,000 miles from there and have two family members weddings coming up I will have to pass. Have a great time.
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
Well darn! I did the Mount Rushmore thing a couple years ago and missed out on Deadwood! I will probably never be back in South Dakota though, living in Missouri, so I guess it'll just have to remain unseen for me! To many other areas for me to explore! I do like the Dirt Band though! Have fun to all going!
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
@peneumbra: I've traveled from north Alabama to RENO to see the Dirt Band! So don't blame the hard times on me! ;)
If you can, see these guys play. They're an awesome band -- one of my favorites. Jeff's son Jaime is with them now, and I know he'll be a great addition. He's played with the Mavericks and he and cousin Jonathan had a fabulous album together.
Jeff is a sweetheart and gives wonderful hugs in the bargain.
I hope I'll get to see them later on this year. I haven't been able to go since 2011.

Pippin, check Gary Allan's Twitter . He has a Father's Day clip with Jaime, Jeff, Steve Wariner (a fav) and his son Ryan. Gary says Jaime is now in his band.
I would have loved to have seen Jaime with NGDB.
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
You shoulda been here! Started raining during the next to last song, and after the show, everybody headed to the bars to talk things over.
Maybe the most exciting thing was that the tour bus had serious tread damage on the right steer tire, so a tire repair shop in Rapid City sent up a truck with a new tire and the guy took off the old one and put on the new one ($500!!! just for the tire) right there, backstage.:thud:
Re: The Dirt Band In Deadwood!
Hey, P! Glad you had fun with the Dirt Band! Sorry to miss it! :rockguitar:
