Just read it on twitter, the man who brought us 'After Midnight', 'Cocaine, 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' is no more. So sad, my thoughts are with his family.

Very sad to hear.
I always liked his songs when done by other artists, great songwriter. I love Cocaine and After Midnight by Clapton and Call Me The Breeze by Skynyrd.
Sad news. RIP, JJ.

Sad to hear this. A great artist. Condolences to his family.
Belated condolences indeed. May he RIP.
I saw JJ and let me tell you NO ONE does Magnolia like JJ. What an amazing man and talent. He is greatly missed.
If you haven't heard the song or just feel in the mood for a little JJ ...

Thanks Dawn. I hadn't heard it...beautiful.
Sad to hear this. I always loved the song Cocaine.
Glad you enjoyed it! I first heard Magnolia when Poco covered the song and immediately fell in love with the lyrics and arrangement. Paul Cotton's lead vocal, Timothy B Schmit harmonizing, Rusty Young and his steel guitar playing, etc A couple of years later I discoverd JJ Cale and his earlier association with the song as writer and performer (recorded 1971) and loved him and this beautiful song he wrote ever since.

Eric Clapton was of course known for his love of J.J. Cale. On the tribute album The Breeze he contributes the song Someday accompanied by my beloved Mark Knopfler.
Totally agree. Thanks for the link Dawn. Finally got to listen to it after a day of my youtube buffering. Beautiful!
