Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Just heard from VA. She's in a seat -- finally!
She originally had seats in row F but "upgraded" to Row B but in her words the view was "totally obstructed". After turning down some crappy seats that they offered her instead, she settled on her old seats in Row F.
Sounds like it was a great big hassle that she didn't need -- but she's in her seat and ready to rock!!!
8:02 -- The lights are down -- they're starting now!!!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
A few others are at this show tonight also, right?

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Hope VA got a refund! I'm sure she'll have a great time even in Row F, though! ;)

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
I bet VA was fit to be tied! But like TT said, she will totally forget the hassle as soon as Don & Glenn walk onto the stage!:headbang:

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
I was so upset! Trying to impress my sister and that happens! They did not refund my money. They said they couldn't. I feel an email to end all emails coming for this. Still I was trying to sell the row f Tix for far less than I paid for them and they never sold. 5 hrs before concert, 50 seats left on stub hub and mine wouldn't sell. Thank God they didn't. I couldn't even give them away to family since they all had to work.
Still the concert was fantastic!!!!! Better than last night. Will post more when I have time!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Sounds like a lot of hassle VA! Still I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Dying to hear more soon when you are more refreshed.

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Better than 2nd row center!!??!! Can't wait to hear!
-
Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
I want to hear how "totally obstructed" a row B seat has to be to give it up. :headscratch:

I find that hard to believe!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
I guess I should be more clear! The seat wasn't better than second row center, the show was better than Monday night.
They have these curtained 'control centers'. I don't know what they're called, but people sit at electronic panels. For Seger they were under the stage in NY. These were to the side of the stage and higher than the stage, so first three or four rows, ALL you saw were these big black curtained things.

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Apparently I'm going to have to do this in bits and pieces as I have time and remember things. I'll start with the end as they did their final waves... Glenn handed picks to various security people along the front to give out to people. I've never seen him do that before! Someone waved a drum stick and Don asked for it and the pen and autographed it from stage and handed it back to the security person. Then went to the drumset and got two drumsticks and handed them to the same person. I couldn't see who got them after the security dude.
To the very beginning, as we waited and after the seat fiasco, my sister says to me, "So I know who Glenn Frey is, but he's the only one I know. What are the names of the others and what do they do?" I know my mouth dropped open. She sang along nearly word for word to every song except two or three. She knows the Long Run album forward and backward (because I blasted it three or four times a day when I lived at home). Yet she was clueless about who was in the band. At the very end, she said she can see why I go to so many concerts and why I don't mind hearing the same songs over and over. The people on the other side of her said they could understand it as well, they were completely blown away. My sister said she enjoyed it a lot more than she'd thought she would.
My nephews had considered taking the extra tickets, but one wasn't feeling good. They're into hiphop and weren't terribly excited about 'seeing old dudes who sing country and rock.' They watched some YouTube videos while we were gone and the youngest (13) kept texting us wanting to know if they were singing certain songs. They both said, "Hey, these guys are actually pretty good." At least I've now found a home for all the Eagles tshirts that I get at all the VIP events that are still in the original plastic, they want the shirts. I feel this is a very positive thing in their musical development!!!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
All right VA! Sounds like a great time was had by ALL! I'm so glad that your sister enjoyed herself, I knew you would. And too cute about your nephews. I bet they will not turn down tickets to another Eagles concert!
Can't wait to hear more! Sounds like our guys are loosening up as the tour goes on. :headbang:

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
VA, I knew you meant the show was better than the night before, but I just couldn't believe you would see it that way after having 2nd row center. One better thing - you were with your sister! Can't wait to hear more about how it was better!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
The music and vocals were just as good, but the guys were more loose and interacted with the audience more, or so it felt. Sitting in the front, it's hard to pick up on the rest of crowd. More jokes (Plaintiff was back), more dialogue, more smiles. Joe talked about the James Gang playing at the old Syria Mosque. Glenn mentioned opening for a group (Procol Harum?? I can't remember which group...) in Pittsburgh in 1973. He made references to Western PA as well as Pittsburgh a couple of times. The downside was that it felt a lot different not to get any good eye contact or smiles from the guys. My sister asked why we didn't get seats in the second row and I almost smacked her!
-
Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
I agree the guys seemed looser and were having more fun than in Louisville...was great to see...I was in the 10th row in front of Timothy....was awesome...VA...I looked for you but didn't find you...my friend Donna loved it...and no camera or video nazis anywhere in sight!!!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
I'm glad you had a good time, VA, despite the seating issues! I love hearing that the guys were relaxed and in good spirits, and I am SO envious of the person that got the signed drumsticks... but how cool of him to do that. :inlove: Love reading all of these tidbits!

I'm pretty sure it was a kid that got the sticks. In the 11 to 14 year range? I'm not a good judge, and he was far away.

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Cute! I remember when Don took that little boy onto his lap at one show for some pictures... he's sweet to the kids!

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
The folks at Guest Services had said to call Live Nation (the promotors), but of course their customer service number is TicketMaster. Since the ticket was bought through Official Platinum, that meant I had to call TicketExchange. They will escalate it up through managment and someone will contact me. She asked me what the obstruction was and I don't have a clue what it is. I tried to describe it and now I think the woman thinks I'm a lunatic. It's the big black thing that is hiding Stueart's feet. Our seats were farther down and directly in front of the thing.

The only 'real' picture I took. I forgot my camera and forgot to ask my sister to bring hers, so this is from the phone.

ok now how is a short perosn like me or dreamer suspposta see over that. If your ticket didnt say "ubstructed view" they most certainly should give you back your money. Just keep saying my view was ubstructed by a piece of stage equipment and she should get the idea. I say again if they dont say ubstructed view then you should get your money back. In baseball they sell ubstructed view seats all they time but they tell you that they are.
good luck.
glad your sis had fun and your nephew story is priceless. You might make eagles fans out of them yet..lol

He has been wearing jeans at Eagles shows since they stopped wearing suits. It is only at solo shows he wears suits.

Zelda! I know how you felt being that close to Timothy. I like what you said about no camera nazis. Gives me hope for Indianapolis.

So does this mean you got some good photos???
Can't wait to see them.
So glad you & your friend had great time.
As for VA, I hope you can get some satisfaction in getting some money back. For the price on those tickets, there should not be an obstructed view, but who knows. Your photo shows the issue, so maybe when they see it, they will agree with you & respond to your request!!!Write to Irving & say WTF was that big black thing on the stage?? In my face!:scowl::scowl:! Good luck!
-
Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
well ellen, I usually if almost never agree with you but I do like you saying to send the picture to the ticket people and to Irving ..lol
guess there is a first time for everything...lol

I would except he's no longer CEO of Ticketmaster. Don't worry, if I don't get my money back I'll keep screaming. There's no excuse for this. For all I know, it was the venue at fault for giving incorrect dimensions or something, but I'll find out who and someone will own up to the mistake and fix it. I saw similar seats for the Nashville show tonight and was afraid to buy them for fear the same thing would happen.

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
Va it rally should say obstructed view...revel sells them like that too for concerts...maybe you should talk to the venue managment.just spitballing here.its like suing somebody...contact everybody and let them the venues and managment sort it all out latter...and I think you still could send ieving a pm ..he is the mgr ..

Not only didn't it say 'obstructed view', it was a ticket they charged extra for (Official Platinum). I honestly don't remember what I paid for it, but I think it was a few dollars short of $400. Each. And, it was totally obstructed, like facing a wall, and not partially obstructed.
-
Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
VA-
They had the same thing in Philly. I looked over at all these empty prime location seats and wondered for a second, until I saw that huge obstruction. So I don't think it was a venue issue.
I would be so mad as well.

Re: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA 7/23/13
well, if anyone can get a refund or partial refund..it would be you.
I'm thinking that the stage managment people didint tell the venue that there would be obstructed views and the venue sold them thinking they were primo and they werent so.......you could say that at other venues, they didnt sell these seats (like in philly) since they were like looking at a brick wall.

Zelda, was it pure luck that you were in front of Timothy, or is there a way to select when you purchase this category of tickets? These are the tix I am planning to buy, but I really want to be over on you-know-who's side!!
