With all due respect, I'm pretty sure Irving Azoff could make a few phone calls ...

Yes indeed AT. There were so many "A" listers that died last year, you'd need a procession of tribute concerts to pay homage to them all.
I'm still holding out for the Dan Fogelberg (August 13, 1951 – December 16, 2007) tribute. I'm sure Irving and the Eagles were/are involved in that.
I would think Joe would be in a good bargaining position to ask for a higher pay-out, considering his name recognition, entertainment factor, and how much his solo material livened up Eagles' past shows. For this summer, he's needed more than ever. He's also been touring with big name acts, thus "keeping the Eagles name alive," to use Glenn's HFO reasoning.
Yes, but my point was the quality of the tribute. I don't think Azoff would do as good a job as Lynne and Clapton did for Harrison, as he doesn't understand Glenn musically as well as Lynne and Clapton understood Harrison. I'm not saying that Azoff couldn't organise a tribute; I'm saying that he most likely wouldn't do as good a job as The Concert for George.
AT - Respectfully I have to disagree. With the exception of Jackson, JD, Linda and Bob, Irvin knows their music best. He toured with them for years while managing their career as the Eagles(going back to 1974). IMHO, Irvin's connections are much stronger to the music/entertainment industry than anyone connected to the Eagles. He would have no trouble organizing such a concert.
IMHO, saying "This song is for Glenn", singing TITTL and PEF is not the kind of tribute I am talking about. I and many others here mean something along the lines of the concert done for George Harrison. Glenn certainly deserves something like this. JMO, but it is shameful something has not been done.
This two city concert did not happen over night. The planning for this had to have begun months ago. I would venture a guess Don, Joe and Tim knew about this a few months ago and wanted to wait until the one year anniversary of Glenn's death had passed. Securing those bands and reaching a financial agreement with them takes time.
