Involvement with the Eagles
Oliver's association with the Eagles began with Glenn Frey. On Strange Weather, he co-wrote the title track, A Walk in the Dark, and the instrumentals Silent Spring and Rising Sun. He and Glenn played almost all the instruments, and he backed Glenn on Strange Weather Live as well as in concert. In 1995, he co-wrote This Way to Happiness for Glenn's Solo Collection.

Glenn brought him on board for Hell Freezes Over and he not only played keyboards, he also acted as one of the engineers. Later, he helped produce the Millennium Concert on the Selected Works. During the Millennium Concert, a short film was played during intermission. Oliver and Glenn co-wrote the music for it, entitled This Bright and Darkened Land.

In addition to Glenn, Oliver has occasionally backed Joe Walsh on solo shows.
